Sneak Peak: Denton Public Library

The Denton Public Library’s mission is to build community by promoting lifelong learning, encouraging human connections, and sharing resources.  All of these goals go hand in hand with the maker movement, which also encourages learning, working together, and sharing.  So, it seemed like a natural step for the library to reach out to makers and potential makers by creating The Forge, a makerspace at the North Branch Library that’s geared towards education, electronics, and media.

Libraries are all about lifelong learning and providing access to the information people need and want.  Connecting people together so they can share knowledge and expertise with each other completes the circuit.  At the Denton Mini Maker Faire we hope to share this vision with everyone by offering tools for technology learning and encouraging people to work together to use them.

The library booth will showcase various ways to get into electronics for all ages.  We have Snap Circuit kits which people can use to create basic circuits.  Little Bits electronic components will help you create some exciting things just by putting together individual pieces with magnetic connectors. We’ll also have some Arduinos available so you can try your hand at programming and attaching electronic components that control lights, sound and motion. We make it easy to indulge your curiosity.  Come and see us at Denton Mini Maker Faire!
